Whitsun Common is a smaller area adjacent to Ickleford Common and together they offer stretches of ‘improved pasture’ alongside the River Hiz. The area exhibits considerable bio-diversity and supports over 100 species of wild plants, 40 different birds have been spotted as well as numerous identified mammals.
One area has been dedicated to a newly planted copse of mixed native trees. These pastures have recently been completely restored to their current excellent levels. They support the fauna and flora and provide villagers with beautiful walks, and places to enjoy peace and solitude
