It was a double triumph for Ickleford in the ‘Village of the Year’ competition, for not only did we retain the Trophy for another year as winner for Hertfordshire West, but also won the Older People category in the regional section of the National Competition that we had qualified for from last years success. The judges this year described Ickleford as "A village where the ideas fizz like champagne".
On Saturday 21st July 2007 many Ickleford residents turned up to the Village Green to see Mr Chris Brearley, Deputy Lieutenant unveil the Totem Pole. Fortunately there were a few hours of good weather ensuring the ceremony went well.
Two days before Anglia Television had visited the village, spent forty minutes filming the village and "a cast of senior residents" plus interviews, the end product being approximately thirty seconds on the following evenings local news - but at least we made the media!
