Ickleford residents were delighted to be announced the winners of the Hertfordshire Village of the Year. The judges summarised Ickleford as, "A village which as always been good across the board, but this year excelled themselves in launching, and keeping on top of, projects in all categories."
Ickleford was also given an award for the Best Community Project for achieving an 86% response to a Parish Plan Questionnaire and for raising a vast sum of money for Church repairs and and extension to the Church id a record Time.
On Saturday 22 July 2006 on a beautiful summer’s afternoon, many Ickleford residents turned up to the Village Green to see Sir Simon Bowes Lyon, KCVO unveil the Totem Pole.
