The Village Sign, located on Upper Green was presented to the village by Mr A.P. Bowman in 1986 to commemorate the creation of his company’s new head office at the mill.
The sign depicts travellers on the Icknield Way crossing the ford. Agriculture is represented by a sheaf of wheat and the mill by a water wheel. A stone represents the grinding of the wheat and a bill the “dressing” (or sharpening) of the stone.
Finally, there is the St. Katharine Wheel, which is the emblem of St. Katharine’s Church.
