Ickleford Primary School serves the village of Ickleford, but also takes children from Hitchin and surrounding areas. There are over 200 children in seven classes. The present school was built in 1848 and the front is a Grade 2 listed building. It has been extended over the years to provide spacious classrooms, a hall, dining room, library, music room and special needs room. Outside there are attractive grounds with a wild life area, swimming pool and a maypole on the front lawn. The school has been warmly praised by Ofsted in all three inspections. The last inspection was in 2004 when the inspectors said, “This is a very good school.”
