How are the plans for the Church Restoration going?

Well they say a picture saves a thousand words!  Here is the new corner stones being fitted into the left hand corner of the porch.

The work is expected to last for about four months, but the porch should not be closed for all that time.

There will inevitably be some congestion in the car park and also on Arlesey Road during the delivery of materials. Some of the pathways through the churchyard will be obstructed and may even have to be closed, as part of the work includes the digging of a gravel drain along the south wall of the church.

In addition, scaffolding has had to be erected around the porch and a secure compound has been erected adjacent to the church tower. A second secure compound might need to be erected to the left of the lych-gate by the public car park (incorporating the portaloo) in due course.

Although there will be some disruption to the normal peaceful existence at St Katharine’s, it really is a great achievement to know that at last the essential restoration work has now begun - thanks to so much hard work and generosity from you all and support from all around.
