Hyde Mill

The Hyde Mill Project was started following the gift of 3/4 acre of land from Mrs Dorothy Parker to the village as she wanted this piece of history to stay in the ownership of the village.

The aims of the group are to understand and document the history of the site and mill, to improve access to the site and ensure that it becomes an area of interest for the people of Ickleford and others.

The photograph shows the front of the mill and mill house as it was in the early part of the 20th century, sadly no remains of the mill could be seen above ground.

Excavations have revealed the outline of the mill house and are now complete.

The future of the site now needs to be decided.  The Countryside Management Agency is recommending that a wildlife reserve is created.  Ickleford Parish Council would like to hear what you think should happen to the site.  You can do so by contacting:-
