Gerry’s Hole

In 1983 Gerry’s Hole, a pond formed when the railway from Hitchin to Bedford was built, became a voluntary conservation project led by a local landowner.

Today Gerry’s Hole is one of the most important toad, frog and newt spawning areas in north Hertfordshire.  This area is maintained and supported by the landowner and local volunteers.
