During 2005/6 the Ickleford Parish Council put together a footpath map using a grant from the Parish Paths Partnership Scheme. [The Parish Paths Partnership is administered by the Countryside Management Service under the direction of Hertfordshire County Council and Hertfordshire Association of Local Councils], The map is entitled “Discover Ickleford – Walk the Parish”. This was distributed to every house within the village, and which can still be obtained free through various outlets (local pubs and village shop) or you can request a map by emailing your name and address to footpaths@icklefordpc.com.
One side of the map, which shows the actual footpaths, bridleways and byways, can be viewed on two new map boards, especially commissioned for this purpose, and located at the Village Green and Lower Green. This side of the map is well worth a minute of your time. It is not only beautifully designed and the artwork outstanding, but it clearly shows all the routes across the parish in a clearly defined layout.
However, the hidden beauty of Ickleford and its flora, fauna, history and buildings that also includes suggested walks, along with a written description of what you may observe on route, is clearly explained on the opposite side of the map.
