There were representatives from over twenty organisations and businesses in the Village Hall on Wednesday to meet the regional judges from the Village of the Year competition. Apart from the exhibitors, children from Ickleford School met with the judges to discuss their various roles, the Ickle Drama Group gave a display in the small hall, and there were two individual recitals from Margaret Auburn on "giving a pill to a cat" and Grace McKee with her poem on Ickleford.
Prior to meeting the representatives of organisations and businesses from Ickleford, the judges were given a "whistle stop" tour of the village, where they saw the Church and Millennium map, the Village Green, the sports field, the children's play area and the various Commons.
The village now awaits for the judges verdict of their visit and hopefully progress into the next round, but whatever the outcome it was certainly a fine example of the community spirit evident in the village. Click here to see the pictures of the visit.
